Mean Mama
Most days, I feel like the meanest mama on the planet. It is an awful, awful feeling.
For whatever reason, Punk has her own agenda and that agenda does not include: eating, sleeping, being held. Ever. And note that 1 and 2 involve 3. *sigh*
When I hold her to feed her, she'll drink an ounce or two and then squirm and twist away, nearly falling off my lap and onto the wood floor. And then I spend the next hour or so fighting with her to drink the rest, even though she is HUNGRY. And I keep trying, and she gets more frustrated with me.
But sleeping is the worst. She gets exhausted, rubbing her eyes, yawning, and getting glazed... yet she ramps herself up. It doesn't matter how "early" I catch her sleep signals, she will freak out. I pick her up, swaddle her, take her into the rocking chair, and then... she arches her back and screeches like I am stabbing her with hot pokers. She will screech and arch, screech and arch, until she eventually collapses, opens her mouth wide for the pacifier, and then instantly drifts into sleep. Meanwhile I am on edge and near tears, feeling like I broke my baby, 3-5 times a day/night.
It is seriously becoming too much for me to hear her wail like that. I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I am killing her. But she needs to eat. And she needs to sleep. Sigh.

It is EXACTLY the same way with Jamesen. Maybe its the age or stage they are in? Teething? Milestone? I am just as frustrated as you my dear. Here's to helping keep our sanity and keeping our kids healthy!! Feel free to email me for support!
ugh! so sorry. taylor and jordan used to do the same thing with eating. is there anyplace that she will tolerate it? like can she be in the bouncy seat, swing, high chair, on the couch, on the changing table, etc and take a bottle that way, without being held? that's what we had to do. now both will tolerate being held while fed, but only quite recently. as for the sleeping, no assvice there, as we are currently in a very similar struggle with jordan and it is about killing all of us! hoping something changes for you guys soon!
Jude- I give you so many kudos. You 3 have been through so much- how overwhelming! I too, know what it is like to have a hungry baby sip at a bottle that you have so lovingly prepared, and then begin the dcreech 'n arch. It just tears me apart. Luckily for you, you are quite a bit further along the path than I am. I can only hope that she grows out of her issue(s). What else is a mom to do but wait? Hugs N kisses

I think it's the "the world is way too exciting to do anything mundane like eat" phase. It can last for a while.
If she doesn't eat enough during the day, will she make up for it overnight? (By waking up more often for bottles, or drinking more at once, or whatever.)
This isn't a great long-term solution, but Niblet & Squeak both did that (and Squeak still does sometimes). And, really, don't let it push you over the edge. If she gets less ounceage for a couple of days, it won't kill her. And she'll get back into the groove.
We tagged you! Also, you can give J. our e-mail address and info, if you haven't done that yet. Thanks! Now get to work!
